Tobacco Hills Riding Club Logo (2021)
In 2021, I had the pleasure of creating a logo for a small motorcycle riding club for men who want to ride motorcycles in a group without the commitment of joining a larger or more established group. The group is based out of Weston, MO, USA, a small tobacco town with a rich agricultural history. In homage to this history, the group decided to name their group the Tobacco Hills Riding Club, chosing “Riding Club” over “Motorcycle Club” to avoid conflict with outlaw 1% MC groups.
The land that is now Weston, MO was once part of the ancient ancestral lands of the Osage, Kaw, and Otoe-Missouria Native American tribes. The Native American head-dress was incorporated out of respect for this aspect of the area’s history. The feathers were replaced with tobacco leaves in continuity with the group’s name. On the sash, the outline of Missouri and Kansas are depicted, welcoming riders from both states, as Weston, MO sits just off of the Missouri river, the natural border between northern Missouri and Kansas. The colors used in this composition are the colors of the tobacco life cycle, omitting green. This was done to further continuity within the composition.
An inverse design was also created for patch and printing purposes.
