Adventure is Out There (2019)
In this POV video piece, we explore the route used to access the Welch springs Hospital Ruins near Akers, Missouri, USA. In 1913, Dr. C.H. Diehl purchased the property to erect a treatment spa for tuberculosis, capitalizing on the natural spring and cool air from an on-site cave system. Unfortunately for Dr. Diehl, his spa failed due to inaccessibility. Only a few dirt roads existed to access the property, leaving tuberculosis patients with the option of taking the poorly maintained roads, or traveling the river. This piece is intended to showcase the journey and the difficulties expected of those who were ill, but in our journey we have the aid of modern technology and our health.
